Consumer Reports next month explores ways to “Shop Smart & Save Big.” Although bonafide bargain hunters may not find lots of new tips, there are a few preview stories worth checking out.
I especially liked 13 Ways to Save, one of the issue’s articles that you can pull up without a subscription to the site. A few things I’d never heard before? Some marketers pay for placement in the grocery circulars, even when the item they’re pushing isn’t on sale. And be careful about buying stuff on the end caps (my weakness) where one item may be discounted but other things paired with them (think chips, salsa, queso) could be marked up or regular price.
Definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for ways to cut grocery costs.
