In my past life—that would be two jobs, three kids and four states ago—I was a born-and-bred in Atlanta newspaper reporter, covering everything from murder and mayhem in small Georgia towns to big city public schools and the politics that shape educational issues. After several years at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Atlanta Technical College, I left my hometown and took the road less traveled–that of a trailing spouse. Since then, my work has appeared in the Cincinnati Enquirer, Hamilton Journal-News, Cincinnati Parent Magazine, Black Issues in Higher Education and the Kalamazoo (Go Michigan!) Gazette. I’ve also taught at Western Michigan University and the University of Cincinnati.
Nowadays I’m all about the savings—saving the earth by doing a little at a time (we’ve yet to give up the SUV, y’all) while looking for ways to save money, time and hopefully, a little sanity, too.
